Gareth K. Vile is Scottish Ensemble's Writer-in-Residence. When he heard that they were doing a project based around Bach's Goldberg Variations he started thinking about them a lot as one entity (musically, and culturally). Then, he started taking each variation and thinking about each one separately.

Gareth K. Vile is a freelance writer and critic in the field of arts and culture. As well as studying for a PhD at the University of Glasgow, he is currently Theatre Editor at The List, Scotland's leadings events and culture website and magazine.
